Qch water buybacks

On Sept. 25, 2017, Water District of Richmond announced a voluntary buyback of bottled water supply, after receiving feedback from many users who have been concerned about their bottled water supply quality for a week. On Sept. 27, 2017, City Manager Joseph Lusk provided additional details regarding the voluntary nature of the buyback and a timeline for when it would occur. This notice has now been removed from the Web Site: Water District of Richmond Buyback Schedule.

If you have any further comments on the new rules, or have questions, please email the Water District of Richmond, the City Manager and staff at waterdistrictrmar.com

Citing limited sources and uncertainty

The City has acknowledged there are "limited sources" for bottled water supply in Richmond. However, this means that even if a specific supply does not exist, customers can use available sources, such as grocery stores and local water districts. The information provided to the Public Utility Commission will be updated when available. The City plans to update the webpage on this notice as quickly as possible. A summary of the sources, which includes the types of bottled water supply that the City is seeking to purchase back, was provided to the Public Utilities Commission.

The amount for each source is dependent on market conditions and the extent of the public interest in using the available supply. In the event of a shortage, the Department will consider a source before making a decision, based on specific factors, such as the volume of consumption in the City.

The total amount of buyback funds being sought in each source should be approximately $200,000 in total. In light of the high level of public interest in water use, this increase in funding does not mean water is "free." The public will be required to pay the full buyback cost, regardless of any additional sources available to them. Purchases will be made as a public service and should not be attempted without adequate support and public consultation. The City will consider the level of public support and community involvement to determine whether public assistance is available.

There is a need to replace old drinking fountains or toilets. For all new use areas, the City will require that all new water fountains or toilets be installed with a water resistant coating that is not water permeable. As a result, if the City needs replacement for toilet fixtures or fountains, the City will be required to obtain the approval of the community where the fixtures are located.

For customers, for example, who are building a new house or adding landscaping, the City will provide them with a replacement for a leaky toilet within 90 days and, once the City receives approval from the City Manager's office, begin a 30-day public survey.

Spy fears raised over chinas brisbane consulate attack

Sydney: A former spy feared he was under investigation over alleged hacking and security breaches at the Sydney consulate has been granted bail to await sentencing.

Timothy Gormley, 46, was charged with multiple offences including breach of confidence, criminal damage, dishonest dealing and theft of documents after allegedly stealing documents at the Sydney consulate in 2013.

The federal Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) alleges that between January 2008 and May 2016, Gormley allegedly used a phishing scam to trick victims into revealing personal information about them and the consulate, including their address, email addresses, phone numbers and banking details.

"The evidence is that between July 2nd and June 15, 2016, Mr Gormley was allegedly active in phishing attacks," the department's terrorism section head Paul Butler said.

The alleged attacks allegedly targeted foreign governments, including India and Australia, but Gormley denied the charges and said he was fighting extradition to Australia.

Gormley was not charged in relation to the Melbourne attack on Parliament House on January 22, 2013, and was sentenced on Thursday by Justice Matthew Brown to 36 months' jail without parole in what was the second time Gormley was in prison.

On Friday, the court heard that Gormley's current lawyer, Jason Brown told magistrate Brian Stottridge Gormley had changed his story and refused to return to court after being granted bail.

Brown told Stottridge Gormley had been living in Australia for six months when he was arrested on November 17, 2013.

Brown said Gormley initially admitted he had worked at a consulate for 11 years before return
